The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) is a fully funded, eight-week summer residential program at Stanford Engineering. It brings 30 talented undergraduate students from across the country and the world for research and graduate school preparation. The program covers housing, a meal plan, travel stipend, and completion stipend. Students also get involved in coding experience, industry visits, Bay Area excursions, and a research symposium.
Objective:
SURF aims to build a diverse community of future graduate student engineers, enhancing interest in graduate school and STEM careers. It fosters research engagement, retention, and preparation for graduate studies.
Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university in the US or internationally.
- GPA of 3.0 or better.
- Committed interest in pursuing a PhD in engineering.
- Completed at least two semesters and have at least one full semester remaining of undergraduate education at the program's end. Rising juniors and seniors are prioritized.
Application Process:
- Application deadline: February 1, 2024.
- Program dates: June 22 - August 17, 2024.
- Application materials include a resume/CV, academic transcript, statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, and optional personal history statement.
